St George-in-the-East is an Anglican Church dedicated to Saint George and one of six Hawksmoor churches in London, England. It was built from 1714 to 1729, with funding from the 1711 Act of Parliament
Completed in 1729, this is one of Nicholas Hawksmoor's great churches. The interior of the church was destroyed in the Blitz and was ingeniously restored with a modern design in 1966.
One of only six London churches designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor, who worked with Wren & Vanburgh - badly destroyed during the Blitz of 1941 - lovely gardens to the rear
Lovely Hawksmoor church with children's playground at the back. So close you can see it’s steeple from our back garden.
