Design botanical jewelry with Portland floral artist

Design and create botanical jewelry using foraged Pacific Northwest materials in my floral studio. In this 90-minute workshop, I’ll guide you in transforming natural elements into wearable art, drawing from my decades of experience as a master floral artist. • We’ll start in my studio behind my house, just two blocks from SE Division, with a tour of the garden and workspace. I’ll introduce the mechanics of wearable art and share samples of my botanical creations. • Choose materials from a curated selection of bark, seedpods, dehydrated mushrooms, herbs, succulents, and blossoms. We’ll dive into the design process, and I’ll coach you on structural techniques and creative elements as you work on a ring, necklace, bracelet, or earrings. • Finish by sharing our creations, and I’ll provide personalized feedback to celebrate your work. This botanical workshop is a wonderful opportunity to spark your creativity and take home a unique piece of art inspired by the Pacific Northwest.

Forage for edible plants next to Latourell Falls

Latourell Falls, located in the Columbia Gorge, is a wonderful place to learn about the landscape and plants of the Pacific Northwest. Join a wilderness educator and forager as we visit this dramatic waterfall, sampling wild edible plants along the route. • We’ll meet at Guy W. Talbot State Park Picnic Area and then walk up the trail to Latourell Falls, which was formed by ancient volcanic activity. • As we move up the canyon, I’ll share stories about the history and ecology of the area and point out native edible plants. • We’ll explore both the base of the falls, taking in the stunning views of the waterfall from multiple angles. You’ll leave with a greater appreciation of the Pacific Northwest and a newfound knowledge of Oregon’s native plants. Note: Please note that this experience begins at the Guy W. Talbot Picnic Area in the tiny town of Latourell, NOT at the historic highway trailhead a short distance away. As a medicine woman, I'll help guide you inward towards a calm and grounding state of mind through the magic of plant medicine. • Before we began making, we'll ground and center ourselves with a deep drum cleansing and an herbal tea, that we make in-house and you can sip on throughout the experience. • You'll learn the basic of formulating with essential oils and then I’ll show you how to select ones based on their medicinal and magical qualities to soothe and enhance your well-being. Trek up an urban volcano with a sober travel specialist

Get your heart rate up with fellow nondrinkers and sober-curious folks on this 2.5-hour guided trek up Mount Tabor, Portland’s magnificent (extinct) volcano. Relax and enjoy a non-alcoholic drink at the summit, and connect with other sober adventurers with a love of the outdoors. • We’ll meet at a coffee house to grab a coffee or tea and introduce ourselves. • Next, the group will hike to the top of Mount Tabor. You’ll learn about its history as an extinct volcano and the group will share tips for sober travel. • At the summit, you’ll crack open some local Oregon non-alcoholic products such as Wilderton Aperitivo, Dhos gin-free or For Bitter or For Worse. • After a quiet moment to reflect, you’ll visit the volcanic crater and take in breathtaking views of the city below. • The hike back down will offer time to hang out with new friends and reflect on the day. Create a unique collage using curated images of the Pacific Northwest while learning techniques I use in my own work. We’ll explore cutting methods, composition, and minimalist design, drawing inspiration from Portland’s iconography and your own experiences in the city. We will be meeting at the beautiful makerspace and shop Makerspace Sellwood in Portland, Oregon. • Begin by looking at my collages and discussing techniques, from selecting source material to layering and composition. Choose from a selection of maps, travel guides, local magazines, and vintage photos to craft a piece that reflects your time in Portland. • Chat about the places you’ve explored, using conversation to inspire image selection. I’ll offer guidance and feedback as you piece together your collage, encouraging a collaborative and engaging creative space. • All materials are provided, along with tea or kombucha to enjoy as we create. We’ll wrap up by sharing our finished work, reflecting on the creative process, and taking home a one-of-a-kind collage that captures your Portland experience.

Fragrance Design Workshop

We’ll introduce you to the process and materials that comprise fragrance creation. We'll spend about half the workshop smelling our way through a selection of about 50 raw ingredients, while discussing fragrance and blending techniques. You'll spend the remainder of the workshop developing and blending your own fragrance, with tips and pointers along the way. After this, you'll turn your fragrance into a 10mL oil-based roll-on personal fragrance. You’ll take home your very own scent creation compounded and mixed into a 10mL roll-on bottle of perfume. Other things to note: - Avoid wearing strong fragrances to this workshop as it may disrupt yours' and others' olfactory experience. - Please note we do require one reservation per person; due to the involved nature of this workshop we cannot accommodate extra guests without reservations - Occasionally we run a tad long, please let us know upon arrival if you have a hard out at 3pm! **We will be taking a short hiatus from workshops starting mid-April. We will return to fill your perfuming needs in June, check our calendar for future dates!

Learn to Bake Homemade Bread!

We'll start out at my house for espresso & homemade whole-grain toast that uses locally-grown and milled flour. Next we'll get to mixing and baking your own loaves. You will leave with a vigorous sourdough starter, plus a loaf of whole-grain, naturally-leavened bread. Not only that, but you'll have the knowledge to go home and start making your own bread regularly! While we wait for your bread to rise, we'll visit some of Portland's best bakeries. This is a lesson and tour in one. Check out @1000bitesofbread on Instagram. Other things to note Arrange transportation to and from my house, but I will provide complimentary transportation to the bakeries we will visit. We'll have breakfast together and there will be plenty of snacks.

Immersive Chinese tea experience in a private tea house

Immersive tea tasting in our little tea house, featuring different tabletop flower arrangements and aromatherapy every week!. There will be Chinese style tea art demonstrations and on certain holidays Guzheng ( Chinese musical instrument) performances. Guests will choose between black tea, oolong tea, yellow tea, green tea, dark tea and scented teas from China at different tea tasting times. I have been in touch with tea since I was 10 years of age and it has always been a part of my life. I am a landscape architect and an enthusiastic tea artist. After I moved to America, my partner and husband Joseph singlehandedly built the tea house for me, according to my design. Everything including the slab table was made by Joseph over a period of two years. Now I would like to share with others this tea house full of love energy and my love of Chinese tea, the etiquette of drinking tea and interesting stories of China. Beginner's glass blowing lessons in Portland, Oregon

Ever been interested in trying your hand at blowing glass? Join me in my flameworking studio and learn how to make your first piece of glass art at Chadly Glass Studio! I’m a professional borosilicate glass blower with over 10 years of experience and offer hands-on, beginner's classes in inner SE Portland. In this introductory group class, students will be taught basic glass blowing safety, skills, and will have the opportunity to create 2-3 pieces of glass art: a mushroom sculpture, wine bottle stopper or pendant, and a small blown ornament. This class may be shared with other individuals (up to 6 participants per class). Class duration is approximately 3 hours. Students get to keep any glass they create, and gain knowledge and hands-on experience in a very unique field. *Glass made during lesson will require kilning for durability, which takes a minimum of 4 hours. Most students choose to pick up the glass they made the next day (or at their earliest convenience).* ** Participants are required to sign a liability waiver prior to instruction. Minimum age requirement is 14 years old. Participants between ages 14-17 must have their parent/guardian present for the duration of the class. Classes are open to people of all skill levels and abilities! However, dexterity in both hands and the ability to recall important safety instruction for the duration of class is crucial.

Bike Around Portland to Culture and Art

Beautiful bikes, beautiful rides, and all our neighborhood secrets. On our tours we'll smell roses (in season), taste treats, ride across bridges, and along rivers; it's the best way to experience the diversity of culture, art, poetry, nature, parks and neighborhoods in Portland. Our approach is to spend more time riding, but lots of time stopping at gardens, art installations, sculptures and poetry beaches. We start in the inner Eastside at our shop at 833 SE Main St #124, where we will fit you for a bike and helmet, ready for an 8-10 mile ride. We head out into Ladd’s Addition, to our fave rose garden, into an art-heavy industrial district, across the sexy Tilikum Bridge, and onto Portland's waterfront. We’ll ride along the water before we head over another bridge back to our shop! Portland is not just a city of seamless bicycle infrastructure and friendly relations between cyclists and motorists, but also a city of poets. Literally, figuratively, our bike ride is a poem; a series of poems; to our city. We'll read poetry written on murals, in sidewalks, and carved in rocks. There is, too, the whirling poetry of wheels on pavement, the sweet suspension of effort that is cycling on the streets and pathways in this place we love. Portland mornings are cool -- bring layers! It rains often in Portland; rain jackets are wise. Minimal bike experience is ok; none, is not.

Portland River Boat Tours

We will take you on a 2 hour scenic boat ride up north or down south on the picturesque Willamette River. Pets are always welcome! Maximum of 6 total passangers. You can bring your own foods, wines, spirits, and coffee! 7:00 am tour. We cruise around the Ross Island natural area and seek out all forms of wild life! On any given tour we see bald eagles, osprey, blue heron, deer, turtles, otters, and beavers! During the fishing season we may even see a sea lions chasing a salmon! Tours starting at 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, for these tours we offer our clients a choice in travel direction. We can cruise the river in either direction, north or south! -If we head south, we will see Portland and Lake Oswego’s most beautiful homes, plenty of wildlife such as osprey, bald eagles, river otters, beavers, sea lions, and the Willamette Falls in Oregon City! -If we head north, we will view Portland's 9 unique and historical bridges, nature, the city skyline, and the Port of Portland. From here we will get up close to ocean going ships, drydocks and see the shipping yards from the water. Tours starting at 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm are the sunset cruises! On these cruises we see the Portland city bridges, Portland’s historical floating homes, movie props, sunsets over the city, and Oaks Bottom natural area. We have a covered boat. Rain or Shine!

Learn the joy/relaxation of cow milking

We will teach you how to milk a cow. *At the beginning we allow you time to spend with the animals. Petting, brushing, or just hanging out with them. *Next we take you through what we feed our animals and how we care for them. We can talk about what goes into the cleanliness of the process and getting everything ready. *We will then go through the experience of milking the cow (whether by hand or with the machine, you decide). Allowing you to do as much of the work as you feel comfortable with. *Afterwards we will strain the milk and get it cooled and clean up. *Before you leave we will give you the opportunity to taste any of the products from our farm with the option to purchase milk at a 50% discount. *Congrats! You will have milked a cow!

Three waterfalls tour including Multnomah Falls and Vista

Meet downtown and head to the Columbia Gorge to enjoy 3 amazing waterfalls. All of the waterfalls are located in the Columbia Gorge which is about 30 mins outside of Portland. Each of the hikes will be about a mile or less. We will have the opportunity to get as close as you like to the falls and learn about this amazing part of the world. This experience is appropriate for all fitness levels. Other things to note It might be a good idea to bring some shoes with decent traction but it's not absolutely necessary. We will be traveling through the Historic Columbia River Highway, which was completed in 1915 and is now considered a National Historic Landmark. We will see 3 amazing waterfalls all within the Columbia Gorge. We will also stop by the Vista House. -Latourell falls- At 249 feet, it is a .4 mile hike roundtrip. -Bridal Veil falls- At 118 feet, it is a 1.4 mile hike roundtrip. -Multnomah Falls- At 620, is is a .4 miles hike roundtrip.
