The cottage is within easy reach of the historic town of Newark, 12 miles, with its cobbled market square which hosts regular outdoor markets, a 12th-century castle and a wide range of shops and restaurants. The market town of Grantham, 10 miles, offers museums, NT houses and gardens to visit, and Lincoln is only 15 miles, both with castles, antique centres and many restaurants. The holiday cottage also provides a central base for exploring Lincolnshire which has something for everyone, from canoeing and theme parks to exploring the wolds and the history of the area, admiring architecture from the 17th century, and nature reserves. Within an easy drive are Belvoir Castle with its breathtaking views, RAF Cranwell, Belton House and not forgetting Lincoln Cathedral, one of the finest Gothic buildings in Europe, which was used for filming the ‘Da Vinci Code’. Leadenham is situated 15 miles south of Lincoln, in a village well known for its polo club and teahouse which is just 200 yards away. There is a Gastro-pub in the neighbouring village Fulbeck which is less than a mile away. Ideal for a relaxing break or as a touring base, with the city of Lincoln, famous for its cathedral and castle, to the north and Grantham and Stamford, home of the world-famous Burghley Horse Trials, to the south. Rutland Water is a 30-minute drive away, and to the east are the sandy beaches of the seaside resort of Skegness, just over an hour’s drive. The area is full of excellent walks and cycle routes, and after a day exploring you can return to enjoy the village pub or tearoom for refreshment. Free WiFi
