Design botanical jewelry with Portland floral artist

Design and create botanical jewelry using foraged Pacific Northwest materials in my floral studio. In this 90-minute workshop, I’ll guide you in transforming natural elements into wearable art, drawing from my decades of experience as a master floral artist. • We’ll start in my studio behind my house, just two blocks from SE Division, with a tour of the garden and workspace. I’ll introduce the mechanics of wearable art and share samples of my botanical creations. • Choose materials from a curated selection of bark, seedpods, dehydrated mushrooms, herbs, succulents, and blossoms. We’ll dive into the design process, and I’ll coach you on structural techniques and creative elements as you work on a ring, necklace, bracelet, or earrings. • Finish by sharing our creations, and I’ll provide personalized feedback to celebrate your work. I’m thrilled to invite you on my cultural tour of Pike Place Market! While many visitors flock to see the flying fish, locals and I cherish the market for its unique creative spirit and deep-rooted connection to Seattle's vibrant art and music scene. Come join me, a lifelong performing artist who practically grew up in this iconic market, for an intimate experience that weaves together music, art, and personal storytelling. • After meeting up at the famous wishing pig, we'll visit the mural featuring legendary artists like Artis the Spoonman and my father, Ron Bailey. I've got the inside scoop on the unique history and incredible stories that I'm so excited to share! You'll also get to hear about and from the local makers and artists whose booths fill the market. • I’ll take you to all the spots where buskers bring art to life, with incredible performers that do everything from playing upright pianos to juggling knives while spinning hoops. Don’t forget to bring some dollar bills if you'd like to tip this world class talent! • After sampling snacks from some of my favorite vendors, we’ll wrap up our tour at the stunning new rooftop garden, which has breathtaking views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Visit Snoqualmie Falls and Hike to Twin Falls

This experience includes visiting two different waterfalls and includes over 1 mile of hiking. This is a unique opportunity to venture into the temperate rainforests of the Cascades. To breathe in the fresh air of the forest and see trees that are several hundred feet tall and equally as old. This is an experience for someone who is interested in getting a workout in the morning. The short trip includes ecological as well as cultural interpretation of the natural areas visited. It is a truly unique experience to be immersed in the cascade mountains.

Multnomah Falls Columbia Gorge Waterfall Tour to Six Falls

We’re experiencing the best of the Columbia River Gorge on this waterfall tour. I’ll pick you up in Downtown Portland (or you can meet us at our Gresham location closer to the Waterfalls) and we’ll explore under the basalt cliffs in our big window van as we hop out to explore 6 waterfalls with short hikes. Get big views of the Columbia River Gorge throughout the route and especially at the Crown Point Vista House where we see the gorge lit at the golden hour on our nightly sunset tours. The experience is fun for anyone who loves beautiful views and waterfalls. Stops: Horsetail Falls Multnomah Falls Wahkeena Falls Bridal Veil Falls Shepperds Dell Latourell Falls Crown Point Vista House This is an active tour, of the 3.5 hours you'll be in the bus for less than an hour and exploring the beautiful parks surrounding the waterfalls for most of the tour. Downtown Portland pick up available at all Downtown and Convention Center hotels. You can uber or transit to one even if you're not staying there. Our Gresham location is 15 minutes East of downtown and is just on the West end of our waterfall route at 18188 NE Wilkes Road, Portland OR

Beginner's glass blowing lessons in Portland, Oregon

Ever been interested in trying your hand at blowing glass? Join me in my flameworking studio and learn how to make your first piece of glass art at Chadly Glass Studio! I’m a professional borosilicate glass blower with over 10 years of experience and offer hands-on, beginner's classes in inner SE Portland. In this introductory group class, students will be taught basic glass blowing safety, skills, and will have the opportunity to create 2-3 pieces of glass art: a mushroom sculpture, wine bottle stopper or pendant, and a small blown ornament. This class may be shared with other individuals (up to 6 participants per class). Class duration is approximately 3 hours. Students get to keep any glass they create, and gain knowledge and hands-on experience in a very unique field. *Glass made during lesson will require kilning for durability, which takes a minimum of 4 hours. Most students choose to pick up the glass they made the next day (or at their earliest convenience).* ** Participants are required to sign a liability waiver prior to instruction. Minimum age requirement is 14 years old. Participants between ages 14-17 must have their parent/guardian present for the duration of the class. Classes are open to people of all skill levels and abilities! However, dexterity in both hands and the ability to recall important safety instruction for the duration of class is crucial.

Fragrance Design Workshop

We’ll introduce you to the process and materials that comprise fragrance creation. We'll spend about half the workshop smelling our way through a selection of about 50 raw ingredients, while discussing fragrance and blending techniques. You'll spend the remainder of the workshop developing and blending your own fragrance, with tips and pointers along the way. After this, you'll turn your fragrance into a 10mL oil-based roll-on personal fragrance. You’ll take home your very own scent creation compounded and mixed into a 10mL roll-on bottle of perfume. Other things to note: - Avoid wearing strong fragrances to this workshop as it may disrupt yours' and others' olfactory experience. - Please note we do require one reservation per person; due to the involved nature of this workshop we cannot accommodate extra guests without reservations - Occasionally we run a tad long, please let us know upon arrival if you have a hard out at 3pm! **We will be taking a short hiatus from workshops starting mid-April. We will return to fill your perfuming needs in June, check our calendar for future dates!

Preserve foods with a cookbook author

During this interactive session I’ll teach you the basics of canning and preserving. You’ll learn how to water-bath and can delicious local produce in new and unique combinations. I’ll also teach you how to make brine, pack your jars properly, sterilize equipment, and ensure that your produce is properly sealed. Of course, we’ll take breaks to enjoy some local snacks and taste some hot sauces, made right here. You’ll get to take home your own jar of the canned creation to share with friends and family. Other things to note All canning supplies and produce will be provided.

Learn to Bake Homemade Bread!

We'll start out at my house for espresso & homemade whole-grain toast that uses locally-grown and milled flour. Next we'll get to mixing and baking your own loaves. You will leave with a vigorous sourdough starter, plus a loaf of whole-grain, naturally-leavened bread. Not only that, but you'll have the knowledge to go home and start making your own bread regularly! While we wait for your bread to rise, we'll visit some of Portland's best bakeries. This is a lesson and tour in one. Check out @1000bitesofbread on Instagram. Other things to note Arrange transportation to and from my house, but I will provide complimentary transportation to the bakeries we will visit. We'll have breakfast together and there will be plenty of snacks.

Whitewater Rafting; Splashes & Smiles

The White Salmon River flows through a collapsed lava tube coming off Mt. Adams, a designated Wild and Scenic area - it's stunning. Expect to paddle several rapids, the size of the rapids and length of the trip changes with the seasons. Shorter trip length and larger rapids during high water spring time. We'll meet at Northwestern Park just outside of White Salmon WA, across the river from from Hood River. It's an hour and a half from Portland in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. We'll be rafting the White Salmon River, an estuary of the Columbia. After introductions we'll outfit you with a wetsuit, wetsuit booties, helmet and personal floatation device. We'll then take a short van ride to the put in. After an informative river orientation talk we walk down a path to the river, the noise of the rapids ever growing as we descend! Three hours later we'll be back at our cars; Photos of the trip as well as merchandise will be for sale. You may choose to bring a picnic and relax in the park after our trip or check out downtown White Salmon and Hood River. I love this river and sharing the experience and I look forward to seeing you soon! ~Scott Other things to note Your experience may just be your group on a raft with your guide or some new friends may join!
