A walk, peddle, or carriage ride through the crisscrossing pathways of Central Park is a must-do on anyone's New York City itinerary. In winter, you can even lace up your skates and glide across Wollman Rink. This huge park in the city center, a half-mile wide and 2.5 miles long, is one of the things that makes New York such a beautiful and livable city. Besides being a great place to experience a little nature, Central Park has many attractions within its borders, and most of them are free, making it one of the few cheap things to do in NYC. Some of the most popular places to visit include the Belvedere Castle, Strawberry Fields, the Central Park Zoo, and the Lake. If you are exploring the park on your own, start by picking up a map at one of the visitor centers and plot your routing.

At the closest opening the park is 2.6 miles away and at the furthest is it 5.3 miles away. New Yorkers are walkers and bike commuters so this is still considered walking distance but there are a slew of subways and buses to such if you prefer to do all your walking inside the park. Citibike or other bike rentals are also an option if you want to bike the area! Stay Safe! The park is giant so plan ahead where you want to visit or enjoy the mystery of exploring without a plan! Inside Central Park you are transported out of the city and into a massive garden utopia! There are so many things to do in Central Park there is no way to list them all. Rock climb the historic but ill named Rat Rock, visit the great lawn and attend a concert or Shakespeare in the park, go to Belvedere Castle, Shakespeare’s garden, Bethesda Fountain and Terrace, Conservatory Garden and/or water, rent a boat at Loeb on the lake, enjoy the mall and literary walk, ride the carousal, visit the two seasonal ice skating rinks, or relax on the many benches, picnic on the lawns, climb the rock fixtures, paths, or play in the fields! There is also the zoo and horse carriages but due to the animal cruelty factor of animal prisons and such working conditions create I cannot recommend such.

Central Park is a 15 minute walk away. There are paths to walk and bike on, a boathouse to rent a a boat for $20/hr, and a zoo (if you're into that sort of thing, it is unique and immersive) among other activities.
As iconic as it is, a bike ride through Central Park no matter what time of year it is, is breathtaking!
Central park is the most famous park in nyc. Take the 6th train to 86th street and walk over to 5th Ave and just take a stroll.
