Local's place to go for jogs, walks in the hiking trails at the area. Many bikers go on the biking trails as well. Many birding centers located near the area.

Mission Hike and Bike Trail in southern Texas is anchored by the Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park. Within its 760 acres, more than 300 bird species have been found and its World Birding Center is a not-to-miss destination. From the park, the paved, 5-mile route winds east through scrubland and over two bridges to end at S. Conway Avenue. As the trail is relatively unshaded, be sure to bring sun protection and plenty of water for the journey. There are over 8 miles of cross country trails that wind up thru this area making it one of the fastest mtb trails in South Texas. Parking and Trail Access Parking is available on both ends of the trail: at Mission Nature Area on S. Conway (just south of Expressway 83), and in Bentsen RGV State Park (2800 S. Bentsen Palm Drive).

Just a short walk to the trailhead for the San Antonio Mission Hike and Bike trail. Walk or bike along the San Antonio River all the way to the historic Missions (San Jose, Concepcion and Espada). See the acequias. Kayaking is available (seasonal).
