Aposelemis dam was a technical project that was finally completed in 2012. At the bottom of the dam there is the small village of Sfentyli, the few inhabitants of which were removed. The waters of Lake Lagkada, as the wider region is called, come mainly from the Lassithi Plateau. The lake has become an important wetland in a few years.
