N.E.C. Park is two blocks (0.1 miles) from your door. It features a DISC GOLF course, which we provide two sets of discs at the townhouse waiting for you to use. The park also has some trails near the water (fishing and water views), a boat launch, a splash pad (warm months), playground, ball field and more. It’s a wonderful place to pop out to when you want to do something fun and enjoy the day, but aren’t up for a long or distant adventure. Also makes for great morning and evening walks.

Recommend eateries along with recommended dishes
Fresh, healthy and delicious Mediterranean cuisine minutes from your door. But we don’t like to just point you in a direction; we like to offer suggestions (so you have a great experience). Honestly, they do a lot really well. 1. For the timid adventurer: If you are thinking, “I’m not sure about Mediterranean,” then we recommend the Chicken Tawook. It’s a grilled chicken in some mild spices served with rice. For your salad, go Greek. 2. If you are thinking, “I love trying things,” (and you have more than 1 person) then we’d recommend the Meatlovers for Two! You’ll have a chance to taste a lot of what they have to offer. Mix up your salad choices with a Tahini salad and a Greek. Some other really great options: A. Beef Kayala (ask for it spicy - it’s not crazy spicy, just a good little kick) B. Moussaka (a little more on the Egyptian side of doing it) C. Baba ganoush (appetizer made from eggplant, kinda like an eggplant hummus) They have great red wines (at a very fair price) to complement And don’t forget to grab a piece of their excellent Baklava!

Delicious Sushi minutes from you door! And it's not just your regular sushi (although traditional sushi enthusiast will love the freshness and quality of their sushi), but they do a great job creating rolls that appeal to all sorts of tastes. But we don’t like to just point you in a direction; we like to offer suggestions (so you have a great experience). 1. For the timid adventurer: If you are thinking, “I’m not sure about sushi,” then we recommend a few sushi rolls (that aren't really traditional sushi): A. The Yellow Dragon (shrimp tempura, avocado, and a mango/apple drizzle. B. The Bear Roll (shrimp tempura and crab) - a heavy and filling roll. C. Green Monster Roll (shrimp tempura, avocado, in a rice wrap) - perfect for those who have never had (or don't like) sushi. 2. If you are thinking, “I love trying things,” then we’d recommend the Tuna Tartar as an appetizer. For rolls: A. The Dinosaur Roll (has jalapeno = fun), B. Fuji Mama (has pickled jalapeno = interesting), C. The Scorpion King. Some other really great options: A. Their General Tao's chicken is excellent and a crowd pleaser (especially if you have non-sushi folk in the bunch). B. Green Hearts (appetizer) C. Special Mixed Salad - a great mixture of a Kani and Seaweed salads. Don't be afraid to try this! D. Fried Balls - this is a unique dish where crunchy tuna is rolled and tempura'd, then served with a spicy/twangy sauce. Excellent!

Delicioso! Great "gourmet Mexican," with excellent margaritas and the best tequila selection in Jacksonville. This place is normally pretty busy and it can be a little loud at times, BUT it is the best Mexican (and not just your normal American-Mexican stuff that you find at so many "Mexican" restaurants [and not to sound snobbish, but we love this place]) But we don’t like to just point you in a direction; we like to offer suggestions (so you have a great experience). 1. For the timid adventurer: If you are thinking, “I’m not sure about this kinda Mexican,” then we recommend sticking to their taco selection. They will all be good, so don't worry; but they might have a little more going on then a normal taco. Enjoy. 2. If you are thinking, “I love trying things,” then we’d recommend the Plantano Frito Rellenjo (a fried plantain with cheese and topped with steak and topped with pico and guacamole. Roll this in a tortilla or eat them as is; either way you'll love this sweet and savory dish. Some other really great options: A. Great Margaritas! (they do their juices fresh - our favorite is the Three Mariachi) B. Their carnita is wonderful. C. Their spicy steak is excellent.

What’s up, Beaches!

Eastern NC has amazing beaches. Here are some places to park your wheels so you can let your flops flip.
The beach at Emerald Isle is beautiful and known for it’s often emerald colored water (in appearance anyway). Although public accesses litter the coast line there isn't always parking (the access is more for residents walking than it is for visitors who are trying to drive and park) and the town of Emerald Isle is big on enforcing parking. I say that just to give you a heads up and to encourage you to park in the areas designated. There is a public access with parking at the "Western Ocean Regional Access" and at the Bogue Fishing Pier.

North Topsail Beach is located just south and offers several parking areas making it easy for visitors to access its beaches. Some public accesses offer amenities like showers and bathrooms, others just offer access and because of that are often not very crowed. In general Eastern NC beaches are lined with houses (and not large resorts) and offer lots of beach space (and people to beach ratio) for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Specialty Foods

Darel’s makes a handful of sweet things, but they are known for their croissants. And these aren’t your normal croissants; they are glazed and filled. It’s like your donut when to France and came back all different and even arguably better. We recommend A. The simple cinnamon and sugar, B. Stuffed with one of the following: Cream cheese, cherry, or lemon. Their churros are banging as well. But don’t let me tell you how to live your life.

Good juices and smoothies for those missing their juicer (sorry we failed you on that one at Meadow). They also have great açaí bowls - I recommend the Nip Blue!
