A perfect day trip. Each day they put on multiple displays of falconry, showing off their impressive collection of birds of prey. A magical castle that's highly recommended.

Just across the valley and up the side, this traditional mountain restaurant offers all the local specialities (simple but hearty) and is the perfect spot to watch the sunset, and a good starting point for a hike.

One of the nearby ski areas with facilities for beginners, and a really nice area for walking in the summer too. There are even marmots!

Beautiful drive up a valley that leads to a parking area, where you can take the 45 minute walk to a stunning lake. There is a toll on the road for most of the day during the summer (normally free after 5pm!)

A wonderful nearby spot for hiking for all levels. You can clamber all the way to a lake of simply enjoy the views in an unspoiled valley. Also great for snowshoeing in the winter!

Worth a visit during the few months that it’s open due to the likelihood of snow and ice covering the winding road, a highlight is seeing the Roman road snake over the pass.

At the top of a toll road, this is a splendid starting point for hiking around the high lakes. There are multiple restaurants here, and wonderful scenery.

Another beautiful, crystal clear lake, with easy parking, restaurants, and a few shops. Our tip is to head clockwise around the lake. It's the sunnier side with the best views.

The food is excellent in this family friendly, good value and authentic Italian place. I can't recommend this enough. Best food in the valley!
