Part of the appeal of visiting the ancient Maya Ruins Xunantunich (Shoe nan too nich) is the Modern Maya Handicrafts and Artwork for sale at the base of the ferry. Another special thing about the destination is getting there across the river on a hand cranked ferry. There are also horseback riding opportunities to visit. We've seen & heard both Howler & Spider Monkeys and the Ruins themselves ar spectacular.

Basic essentials for travel to the tropics:
Long light weight clothing. Quick dry pants and sun protective loose fitting shirts are ideal protection from both sun & biting insects. Sunscreen is a must. Other protection recommended: sunglasses and hats. Casual is the dress code though its always nice to be able to dress up a little bit. If you plan to go hiking or caving bring comfortable sturdy shoes you don't mind getting wet & dirty. Your flexible attitude & sense of adventure is what will make your trip to Belize be full of pleasant surprises and memorable experiences to cherish.
