It is one of the most consistent fossil collections existing today: shells of marine invertebrates, corals, sponges, fossils of countless animals. The fine limestone silt that covered them allowed them not to be influenced by external factors: some have even preserved their original chemical structure. The specimens, collected by the researcher from Ampezzo in the whole area of the Dolomites surrounding Cortina, were then meticulously cataloged by him. The name, place of discovery and data of the researcher were indicated for each.

It is located on the high slopes of the Col del Gallo, just above the mouth of the Cismon Valley in the Canal di Brenta, in a beautiful panoramic position. Opposite is Monte Grappa, with Col dei Prai, Prassolan and Monte Cismon. Right under the dam on the Cismon that forms Lake Corlo, built in the early 1950s. All around fearful jumps of rock.

Lago del Corlo is an artificial basin located in the small town of Arsiè (BL). Formed by the damming of the Cismon stream and immersed in the Belluno mountains, it has been curiously nicknamed the “little Norwegian fjord”. Thanks to its conformation, seeing is believing!

The Meatte path is probably one of the most beautiful excursions to do on Monte Grappa, with a Great War theme. On a day like that of August, when I suddenly found myself alone, I didn't think twice about taking the car and setting off alone for one of the exits I had been planning for some time: Mount Grappa and the Meatte path.

The thematic itinerary, which starts from the Conca delle Bocchette in Seren del Grappa, is a fascinating intertwining of Nature, Art and History around the theme of the Great War, considered from a perspective of peace. The itinerary was born in 2014 from the desire to remember the many lives broken on the battlefield, the feelings and fears of ordinary soldiers. The easy walk, dotted with works of art distributed along the route, stimulates reflection and meditation on the theme of the Hero, between War and Peace, while walking through the woods.

Beautiful and hard hiking trail. With a development of 1,800 meters and a difference in height of 520 make it a great challenge for anyone who wants to try their hand at a challenging climb on the southern side of Monte Grappa. The path ends on the road a few meters from a clearing.

It starts from Cima Monte Tomba, on a dirt road heading west towards Castel Cesil. Having taken the mule track, go up, first behind Malga Doch and then next to Malga Da Miet. From here comes the CAI 212 path coming from the church of Caniezza, Cavaso del Tomba. Through this path you go up the east ridge of the Grappa which separates the Treviso plain from the Alano Valley. After Punta Brendal you reach the top of Castel Cesil (1,142 m altitude), from where you can enjoy a magnificent view. Continue, passing the Alpini di Possagno refuge, where you cross the CAI 840 path coming from Alano. From here you can go back along the same road (3 h) or continue along the path 212 and, after passing Monte Palon, descend to Bocca de Forca, cross Val dell'Archeset to reach Cima della Mandria. To return to the starting point, retrace the same route (3.5 h) or you can descend by taking the CAI 211 path to Col de Draga (corresponding to Km 12 of the SP 141) to continue eastwards, following the SP 141 (asphalted) up to Cima Monte Tomba (about 3 hours).
