Our local! Nearest bar, pizza, supermarket. We love to walk here on a summer evening, have aperitivi at the bar, pizza at Paulo's, coffee and digestivi at Luca,s Terrazza Belvedere and then walk back home down the hill. In early summer we are treated to hedgerows of fireflies.

Amandola has an interesting walled historic centre built around a busy square. Great location to sit with a coffee and pastry in the morning or a drink in the evening, and people watch. It is also a cultural centre with several festivals during the year, Truffle, Swing and a Medieval, just to name a few.

Even if you have seen limestone caves before, this one will still impress. There are well organised tours in English, and other languages, which add to the experience. The caves are about a 90 minute drive but it is through beautiful rural scenery. A UNESCO site, the paper manufacturing town of Fabriano, is not far from the route and adds to an interesting day's sightseeing.

One of our favorite restaurants. Not much on décor but great local food, family run, good value and the owner is the Italian Mr. Bean! Ask for a table on the terrace to enjoy the sunset over the mountains.

Book this restaurant , located in the mountains in the hamlet, Isola San Biagio for lunch. While most local restaurant serve good local food based on fresh, in-season ingredients, Il Tiglio is a sophisticated, fine food and wine restaurant that takes excellent local produce to a higher level.

In the same region, the Abbadia de Fiastra, and the Roman ruins at Urbisaglia and Convento are worth a visit. With dinner at Norcineria La Centrale del Gusto, this is a perfect afternoon jaunt.

The Adriatic Coast is about 45 minute drive from Magli. It offers sandy beaches and the Italian seaside experience; crowds, umbrellas, beach bars and restaurants. Our favorite is a little further north. The village of Sirolo is perched atop the limestone cliffs of the Conero and overlooks a pebble cove. Once again, very Italian scene, lines of beach chairs and umbrellas, families and youths, sun and sea. And Alberto's Seafood restaurant where you can have a long lazy lunch of today's catch and a bottle or two of white, sleep and swim the afternoon away and then retreat to the village for passeggiata and an aperitivo.
