The Mission Reach section of the Riverwalk now connects to the Medina River Greenway, so that you can ride all the way from King William through that section of the Peak system. From Mission Espada, continue riding south on the Riverwalk onto the Espada Connection. You will ride past Lake Cassin; the trail ends at S. Flores where it merges with Highway 281. At the end of the trail, use the map provided here to cross 281 and head south on Clubhouse Blvd. to Mission Grande. Turn right into Mattox Park. The trail continues from here to the Mitchell Lake Trailhead. Continue around Mitchell Lake, a protected bird sanctuary, to the Pleasanton Road Trailhead. It is about 8 miles from Espada to Pleasanton Road. From here, cross over Pleasanton Road, where the trail continues along the road. In about 100 yards the trail turns right and onto the Medina River Greenway for another 7 miles. Total distance: 25 miles one way from King William (15 from Espada to the end of the Medina River trail). Take water, snacks. Restrooms at some points along trail.

Hiking and biking trails are extensive in San Antonio. Many are quiet, leafy, peaceful places to exercise and reflect. All are paved, well marked, and include restrooms and rest areas.
