Barney Lake is a beautiful day hike from the Coldwater Creek campground area near Lake Mary. Along the way you pass Arrowhead Lake and Skelton Lake, so you can stop along the way for a shorter hike

McLead Lake is one of the easiest hikes in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Its less than a mile from the Horseshoe Lake parking lot with a moderate climb. The beautiful lake is surrounded by white sand beaches for relaxing or swimming.

Reds Meadows is a hiking area. The John Muir Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail and many other trails are accessible from here. Red Meadow is only accessible by shuttle from Mammoth Mountain Adventure Center (tickets required) and is only open in Summer.
The hike to Rainbow Falls is a summer favorite of both locals and out of town adventurists. Devil's Postpile is a volcanic formation that is truly unique to see. There are also longer hikes, Shadow Lake is a medium length hike. Be sure to bring sunscreen, bug spray, and snacks or lunch; you will want to spend the day!
