Local pubs that also serve food

All of the following pubs serve food and are within walking distance. The Old Beams is in Shenley Lodge and Fuzton Lake are the nearest.
This local pub sits on the foundations of a 1600s barn after which the area was named (Shenley Lodge). The pub was rebuilt in 2007 following a fire but the remnants of the original building remain. There is a great beer garden and characterful bar and decent food. And, importantly, it is a mere five minute walk from the house.

A lovely walk around the lake - about 2km in total There are some interesting sculptures to see - the 'Triple Star Head' sculpture by Romanian artist Paul Neagu, shaped like a comet with its tail erupting from the earth. Also the 'Silhouetted Portals' by Wendy Hitchings - wooden sculptures on the islands have proved popular with the resident bird population!

Developed in the 1970’s the National Bowl in Milton Keynes is a world renowned music venue and event arena that has hosted some of the worlds biggest music acts. Recently bought by Pete Winkelman to develop as a football training and music venue and looking forward to many more live bands! The construction of the Bowl began in 1971 when surplus soil from the road building for the development of the City of Milton Keynes was piled on the site of a redundant brick works. In 1973 following some inspirational thinking the spoil was formed into a horse-shoe shaped arena on the same lines as the world famous Hollywood Bowl and on Saturday 8th September 1979 the National Bowl, hosted Desmond Decker and Geno Washington. Fancy a trip to Oxford or Cambridge when you are in MK?

Milton Keynes is roughly halfway between Oxford and Cambridge. Bus X5 goes to Oxford or to Cambridge and is an easy way to visit both cities. Taking the bus avoids the challenges of parking (and costs) in either Cambridge or Oxford.
