What era did coquina rocks come from?
The Coquina rocks at Washington Oaks is part of the Anastasia formation, which stretches from St. Augustine to Palm Beach County, and was created during the Pleistocene era (12,000 - 2.5 million years ago). During that era when sea level was lower, shells and sand were exposed to rain.
Tip about our sand: It sticks to you when you are wet and doesn't easily brush off (bonus its a great exfoliation) but if you are not a local this may be irritating to you. Easy fix bring a sock filled with baby power, keep it in your beach bag and just tap it in areas on your body covered in sand and it will brush off easily

Getting Around Town
Walking is the locals choice our little beach town is very walkable! If you want to explore further out of the downtown area there are bicycle rentals and golf cart rentals available
