I recommend this boat tour for everyone's first trip to Chicago. It's fun and very educational. The best tours are run by the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

This is a great museum that's very close to the apartment. The gift shop is really fun and unique. There is a wonderful Farmer's Market here every Tuesday from June-October.
