Summerhill is a 3 bedroom self contained farmhouse set on a separate corner of the Sassafras Springs Eco Retreat. Recently painted and redecorated, it offers the best of both worlds. More private than our other cottages but a short walk to the vegetable garden, fruit orchard and platypus dam.

We recommend you to purchase food for your meals on route.
If you come from the north or west, the closest food store to us is a Mini IGA Supermarket at Ouse, approximately 20 minutes drive.
If you come from the direction of Hobart, there is a Woolworths Supermarket in New Norfolk, which is approximately 40 minutes away.
There are not a lot of options for eating out for dinner. Our organic garden usually provides some additional vegetable delights during spring and summer and our cottages have great kitchen facilities.

There is a lovely forest walk on the property which takes approximately one hour and takes you through a varying terrain. The Mt Field National Park is within half an hour drive with Russell Falls being a major attraction. The Maydena Bike Park is also within half hour drive and New Norfolk with its antique stores is 40 minutes from the property.

Grant & Marieke are the onsite managers of eco retreat "Sassafras Springs". We manage this beautiful property on behalf of Elizabeth who is the owner of the 3 cottages and a farm house, which are located just outside Ellendale.
Grant & Marieke are both very keen travellers and have travelled the world extensively, before being lucky enough to settle at Sassafras Springs and call this magical retreat our home. We are very excited to share this beautiful location with our guests and hope you love this stunning & quiet location as much as we do.
Elizabeth is an architect who travels widely and often and is based in QLD.
