This is an individual 76 m2, two-bedroom penthouse with it's own security car space, elevator and with 50 m2 rooftop patio.

Perfect for four, this serene and secluded, new, quality penthouse in the Merida Apartments building has an upstairs north and west-facing living & dining area with a reverse-cycle split system air-conditioning system. Two separate doors lead onto an amazing, 40 sqm, north and west-facing, sun splashed, paved alfresco terrace, with sunset views. There is a stone kitchen upstairs with breakfast bar, and lots of storage space with high gloss, soft-close cabinetry and quality stainless steel European appliances. New, timber-style oak look flooring accents the appealing open-plan living area that looks toward the rooftop terrace through the light-filled living and dining area. Bedrooms offer a queen and queen bed with ceiling to floor mirrored built-in-robes.

There is also a central bathroom in modern warm, grey tones, a euro laundry with a separate washing machine and dryer, and internal access to the security car park via an elevator. (The clearance height when the door is open is 2.2m). Bicycle racks are also available.

All tea, coffee, toiletries, washing and cleaning products and other welcome supplies are supplied. You will need to purchase more of these consumables if you need them for the rest of your stay.

Note from the owner

Having completed my nursing training at the nearby Austin Hospital as a young girl I have been living in and familiar with the area for a long time. It feels to me like a hidden gem - only 10km to the CBD yet all the pleasures of cinemas, Bunnings, huge Northland shopping Centre, nearby parks and free parking on and off the property. Everything I need is only minutes away, such as the Austin and Mercy Hospitals, and it's only a quick walk to the Repat Hospital and the bus to La Trobe Uni is outside the front door

I love the large open plan living area and a massive private balcony impressively overlooking treetops. Admiring the sunset from the balcony while sipping on a quiet drink, is my favourite way to relax before dinner. Make sure you have your camera ready for those stunning hues of burnt orange and lilac sunsets.

There are several hospitals in the area including the Austin Hospital, the Mercy Hospital for Women (which combined measure up to be the largest hospital in Victoria), the Olivia Newton-John Wellness Centre, Warringal Private Hospital and the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital.

The Heidelberg Shopping Centre, known as "Burgundy Street" has a new supermarket, and many trendy cafes have made the area very liveable.

"Burgundy Street" is now known as Heidelberg Central Shopping Precinct and has over 230 retail/commercial and professional businesses. Over $1 million has been spent over the last 7 years to upgrade the infrastructure of the Precinct e.g. Aerial bundling of overhead power lines, resurfacing of the footpaths and roadways, installation of trees, seating, bollards, bike racks and rubbish bins and painting of all street furniture in the Precinct to 'Burgundy' to suggest the boundaries of the retail strip.

Leo's Fine Food and Wine Supermarket, Safeway, plus 20 cafes and takeaways shops and 12 first class restaurants, mixed with the Warringal Shopping Centre makes this area a vibrant shopping destination. Heidelberg Central is also home to the historic Old England Hotel.

Several educational facilities nearby include the Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE which has a campus at Heidelberg, as well as the private TAFE college KAL Multimedia Training. The Institute of Health and Nursing Australia, RMIT, Viewbank College and La Trobe Universities are also close by.

There's a market on the weekend nearby at La Trobe University.

Getting There
The easiest way to get to Waterdale St from anywhere is get a taxi, Uber or Ola ride; including from Tullamarine Airport.

The cheapest route from the CBD is to take the Hurstbridge Train from Parliament Station to Ivanhoe Station, then the 548 bus to Bonar St, which is only a minute away from 452 Waterdale St, on the corner of Bonar St.

Getting Around
Bus Stop Route 548 is a few steps from front of the building to La Trobe University, Ivanhoe Station to the City CBD.
A few minutes away, take a short walk a block away to Oriel Road which provides access to buses for all over Melbourne

We always check with you within 24 hours of arrival to make sure that everything is okay, but we are available by phone and email for extended office hours every day.

PLEASE NOTE OUR MINIMUM STAYS REQUIREMENTS BELOW:

Many sites only allow us to show one rate, so we need to clarify our booking rules here.
Within 30 days, the minimum stay is 3 days
30 days or more in advance, the min stay is 7 days
90 days or more in advance, the min stay is 28 days

*Very early and late arrivals require the following fees to have someone there at these times:

Arrivals between 6:00 am and 9:30 am: $25.00

Arrivals between 5:30 pm and 9:00 pm: $25.00

Arrivals between 9:00 pm and midnight $55.00

Arrivals between midnight and 6:00 am: $100.00

I have owned two other service businesses since 1998. I started StayCentral with one apartment in 2005, and now manage multiple properties in many different locations in inner Melbourne. Like many of my guests, I love to travel; both overseas to places like the Mulu Caves in Borneo, ancient cities (in many old countries), Antarctica & Alaska, Torres del Paine, and colourful markets in amazing places like Pha Long in Vietnam, Jaisalmer in India, Tozeur in Tunisia & La Paz in Bolivia. I also love short domestic trips for weekends away just to relax. It means I get to be on the other side of the counter, and experience how other people look after their guests: and I take their good ideas back with me. (My manager, Max, has also travelled from afar to be here by the way, and he can also speak with our guests in Russian and Ukranian). I even worked as a part-time tourist guide in Melbourne for a couple of years, and really enjoyed the interactions with the tourists off the huge cruise liners that appear in Melbourne each spring and summer. I have tried to extend this experience into my accommodation business here at home, where I really love assisting people with their stays. I do love living in Melbourne. It enjoys a unique place in Australia. It is often described as the cultural, business, shopping and sporting capital of the country. The restaurants and cafes in Melbourne are amongst the best in the world. I love living in an urban village amongst these, and all the other everyday shops; and jumping on a tram and avoiding the hassles of traffic. It is a city of great opportunity, experiences, events and lifestyle that can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike; and I really enjoy facilitating our guests' stays here.
