There are many excellent restaurants nearby, especially Korean. Here's a list:
-Ton Nam (local food and live music)
-North Korean restaurant behind the building that often has live performances (normally group tours are here, but it can be an interesting experience)
-Hancook 2 (popular S. Korean restaurant)
-Cafe Sinouk (local cafe chain - Lao coffee is excellent!)
-Cafe Vanille (French cafe)
-Seng Thien bar on the 25th floor of Muong Thanh Hotel
-Comma Coffe Reading Room (nice cafe with many books)
A little farther:
-Dehli Durbar (Indian cuisine)
-Budapest Bistro (Hungarian food)

The closest convenience store would probably be the one in Viengvang Tower.

Fitness: though the gym in the hotel is quite nice, you can also try K33 Fitness Studio, which is only a short walk from the building (50,000kip/day; 660,000/mo)

I'm from the US and have had the privilege of traveling around much of SE Asia, and now I live and work in Vientiane, the capital of the beautiful Lao PDR. I enjoy staying active and also getting to other cities when I have the chance. Meeting friends from all over is always a great experience as well. I'm not home too often. I typically use my place for sleeping, and that's generally how I use places I stay, too. I'd be happy to meet any visitors but can't promise I'll be around too much.
