Welcome to a vacation getaway in an ideal Mt. Pleasant location that is just a short drive to the two beaches of Sullivan's Island and the Isle of Palms, major eateries, and supermarkets. Also, the famous Shem Creek & Marina, which offers kayaking, paddle boating, and waterfront restaurants, is about a mile away. Historic Downtown Charleston is a ten minute drive. My location is great for walking, biking, and jogging.

This space - which embraces a Covid enhanced cleaning process - is a large apartment that has a private entrance. No one except the guest has access to the unit. It also has a private parking spot directly in front of the unit. Such convenience leads to easy in-and-out access and has none of the hassle of off-street parking. The apartment itself, ideal for solo adventurers or couples, has two floors, each with its own full bath. The first floor is divided into a sitting area with a TV and a fully stocked kitchenette. The spacious second floor bedroom, also with a full bath and TV, has a comfortable queen size bed, a love seat, and plenty of storage space in a large closet. (The TV on each floor is a Smart TV!!!) While a central thermostat controls the temperature of the entire house, be assured that I keep the space quite cool in the summer and nice and warm in the winter months. You’ll love Kate’s Place because of the coziness, the prime location, and the quiet!

Parking
The unit has its own private parking spot for one car. Past guests love this aspect of the property because such convenience leads to easy in-and-out access -- and with none of the hassle of off-street parking. Please keep in mind that only ONE car is permitted in the designated area. Any guest(s) who brings two cars will be asked to vacate the property immediately. There is no off street parking.

Check-In and Check-Out
You may self-check in any time after 2 pm on the day of your arrival. If you plan on getting in late the night of check-in, just send a quick message to that effect; there is night lighting at the entrance for those who check in late. You will be provided a unique door code prior to your arrival. Check-out is no later than 11 am. We ask that guests honor this policy.

Occupancy Limited to Two Adults
This unit is set up for no more than two overnight adult guests and no more than one car. No one under the age of 18 is permitted to stay in this unit -- no children at all. Any guest(s) who violate this occupancy policy will be asked to 1) vacate the property without a refund and 2) pay a $500.00 fee for unannounced and unverified overnight guests who are over or under the age of 18. We promise a clean, safe, and quiet environment, and we invite guests who value the same. We do not want loud partiers, but rather we welcome guests who want a great space and a great location to enjoy and relax before and after beach days, sight-seeing in Charleston, and other entertainment.

Amenities
The kitchenette has a full-size refrigerator, stove top and air fryer convection oven, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker with an appropriate number of pods. Plates, silverware, pots & pans, napkins, and other dining essentials are also provided for you. Each full bath is stocked with towels and soap. Free wifi and basic cable. Washer and Dryer in unit. In addition to a ceiling fan on each floor, there is also a box fan in the bedroom for those who sleep with a fan. Guests will be supplied with essentials for a short stay, though for longer stays, guests can turn to Publix and CVS, which are just a stone’s throw away.

The Shore and Entertainment
We are super close to the region’s most popular beaches! Sullivan’s Island Beach, with its surf and sun, is a few minutes drive away, stocked with Revolutionary War-era Fort Moultrie and great casual dining establishments. The Isle of Palms Beach, to the north, is a ten minute drive. Directly to the south is Folly Beach, rife with shopping and eateries. You are responsible for your own beach towels and beach gear! For great, reasonably priced breakfasts and lunches, I strongly suggest Mozzo’s, which is less than a mile away. For food shopping, try Publix or Harris Teeter, both nearby. There are a handful of restaurants and taverns at nearby Shem Creek, where one can relax by the water. Of course, Sullivan’s Island has restaurants, taverns, and ice cream parlors. One of the best kept secrets regarding the beach parking scene is this: one can park for free in the church parking lot at the end of Sullivan's Island -- the address, 3222 Middle St, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482. FROM THERE you can walk over the inlet bridge into the Isle of Palms and veer around onto the Isle of Palms Beach.

Downtown Charleston
As a famous critic once wrote, for a long time Charleston's had "a reputation as a specimen of the antebellum South trapped in amber, but in recent years it has transformed into one of the top travel destinations in the world, drawing in visitors with its horse-drawn carriages, cobblestone streets, and award-winning restaurants." Even so, the city has managed to preserve all the qualities for which it is widely known: a prime coastal setting, historic architecture, friendly locals—while also nurturing a creative culture that is making it one of "the most notable destinations for those who seek out interesting restaurants, bars, and shops that highlight a dedication to distinctive craft.” I strongly suggest to all my AirBNB guests to go spend a day in downtown. Not a few of my guests have taken advantage of the
Self Directed Walking Tours via any number of free apps, which allows you the option of taking preselected points of interest, or simply finding historic locations for what is near your current location.
If you do drive over to Charleston, I suggest you use any number of parking garages. Since parking can be tight, my husband and I often UBER over there.

The Immediate Area
The apartment is within walking/biking distance of the shops and restaurants on Ben Sawyer Blvd. Great for walking and jogging. Or bring your own bikes and pedal through an adjacent neighborhood that spills out onto the bike path down to the beach. Less than two miles from the apartment is Patriot's Point, where one can catch a tour boat to Fort Sumter, play golf, water taxi to downtown Charleston, or tour the Naval & Maritime museum including the WWII-era Yorktown aircraft carrier.

Pet Free and Smoke Free
This is a pet-free and smoke-free apartment, including vaporizers, cigars, pipes, etc. Evidence of pets or smoking inside will result in a $500 cleaning charge as well as immediate cancellation of the remainder of the reservation without refund.

Your Host
I was a special education teacher and a landlord for some two decades before a recent retirement, at which time I, along with my husband, purchased and renovated this property. As part of the renovation we have turned your AirBNB unit into a roomy, clean, and safe space.

Covid Protocol:
1) I ventilate rooms before cleaning, which includes circulating fresh air for at least 20 minutes and keeping windows open during the entire cleaning process.
2) I wash my hands thoroughly before and after each cleaning – using soap and water, and scrubbing for at least twenty seconds.
3) After cleaning, I sanitize and disinfect all surfaces with anti-covid products sanctioned by the CDC .
4) My mantra is “Clean, then disinfect.” Cleaning means using soap or detergent and water to remove dirt and impurities. Disinfecting refers to the use of chemicals like bleach or alcohol to kill germs.
5) I wear disposable gloves while I clean. I throw out the gloves after each cleaning. I wash my hands immediately after the gloves are removed.
6) I keep a well-stocked storage room of paper towels, disinfectant wipes, and other disposable cleaning supplies.
7) After each stay, all towels, linen, sheets, bedspreads, and throws are machine-washed at the highest heat setting appropriate for the material.
8) I wear a mask when cleaning and socially distance when in contact with guests.
