Sleep to the sounds of the waves in the comfy KING bed placed right in front of the sliding glass doors & wake to an amazing view of the sea!

Have coffee & breakfast, on the great terrace

Go snorkeling right from the sandy beach or take a dip in the pool. Curl up under the Palapa with a good book or take a nap in one of my hammocks.

Pop down to the beach bar for lunch or dinner or make your own in the fully stocked kitchen. Drinks on the terrace, rinse & repeat.

المسكن
This is my newest condo right next door to my other two, Hammock Heaven & Oceanfront Oasis. Because I'm a literary dork and because I now have 2 Palapas on the beach, this is called Palapa Paradise. This is the best beach on the Riviera Maya in my not so humble opinion.
The view from your bed is amazing. There is a full kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare your meals. Full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster oven, coffee and tea maker, some spices and a few condiments even.
There is a nice living area with comfy couches and chairs.
The shower has being newly retiled and there is a large dressing room.

إمكانية وصول الضيف
You will have private use of the entire Condo with large Oceanfront facing terrace. Use of my private palapa I the beach. Shared use of the Condo pool.

أشياء أخرى يجب ملاحظتها
A word about Sargasso (seaweed). It comes and goes. No one can predict it. It won't hurt you. The fish love it. I get that it is annoying so I sometimes wear a swim shirt. In other places, like Tulum where it is against the rules to rake the beach, it can be very smelly but here is the good news: The resort that we are next to rakes it up very diligently so if there is Sargasso, this is one of the best places to be.

The resort used to be called Oasis but now rebranding itself as Sunscape. The condos were built here first and as the resort grew it bought many the condos and sell them as their all inclusive Oceanfront Villas. There are some great perks in that my guests can buy a day wrist bands for around 60 usd or purchase individual meals for 470-740 MX depending on the restaurant and the whim of the resort so I can't make any guarantees.

You can get much better food for better prices walking 2 minutes down the beach to the Beached Bikini Bar and grill or the restaurant at the Villa De Rosa Resort or going 5 minutes by car, taxi or collectivo (public transportation vans) to Akumal Beach and Akumal Pueblo to the north or south to Chemuyil or to Tulum which is only 20 minutes south.

Other useful tips and fun things to do in the area:

Akumal Art Walk
I have the great honor to be the Official Tour Guide of the over 140 murals painted during the Akumal Arts Festival which takes place the second weekend in November. Over 100 international artists have painted extraordinary murals on the bridge and houses throughout the village. In season, (November to May,)
You can book a private/group tour anytime through Airbnb experiences. It is called Akumal Art Walk.

Snorkeling:
The best way to explore the reef is to go straight out in front of the condo and swim toward 11 o'clock or slightly to you left.
This will be the shortest distance to the reef and you will be swimming slightly against the current. I advise wearing fins or water shoes. Another good place for snorkeling in calm waters is Yal Ku Lagoon in North Akumal.

Swimming with Turtles in Akumal Beach
The government stops all tours to see/swim with the turtles during the months of February and April to give the turtles a break, because the grass they eat is getting destroyed by fins and they are getting sick from sunscreen. You may be stopped driving in by tour vendors who tell you you have to go with a guide. Not true. Just park and enter the public beach where you pay a small fee to enter, that goes to protect the turtles. Please wear reef safe sunscreen whenever you get in the ocean.
Short fins and life jackets may be required.

Massages:
Walk south down the beach 5 minutes and you will come to a great massage tent. Norma and Josette give a great massage for $50 USD. Tell them Joan sent you.

Grocery stores:
There are 2 small grocery stores in Akumal Beach, 5 minutes north. There is also an XOXO, (7-11), a small drug store and ATMs. The ATM that is outside on the right gives dollars and the one inside the grocery on the left gives pesos.
The selection is limited but you can get the basics.

About 15 minutes north in Puerto Aventuras, or 15 south in Tulum there are large grocery stores called Chedraui. They also sell all kinds of other stuff. It is less expensive and has a greater selection than in Akumal. It is customary to give a small tip to the person who bags your groceries. Feel free to use the condiments in the fridge. Replace if you use them up, please.

Laundry:
There is no public laundry in our complex. There are 2 lavanderias in Akumal Pueblo on the west side of the Highway that you can drop your off laundry and pick it up the next afternoon, and one in Chemuyil, just south.

Restaurants:
There are several good restaurants in Akumal Beach like Turtle Bay Cafe, Lol Ha on the beach, and La Pescador for fresh seafood. But my favorites are La Buena Vida because they have hammocks and La Lunita where they have great lobster. The last 2 are in North Akumal.  Left after the arch and all the way up toward Yal Ku Bay.

Don’t be hesitant to explore Akumal Pueblo, the jungle side of the highway. It may not be as polished and touristy as Akumal Beach but is perfectly safe and you can get great local food from the restaurants for next to nothing. In season they have live music on Wednesdays at Tequilaville. For example: 3 tacos and a beer or half a chicken, rice and beans, for $5. There you can explore the many murals on the bridge and surrounding houses. This is were I go to eat. There is a cute new Restaurant called Freedom Garden that is an outdoor Barbecue and has a real Tulum vibe.

Chemuyil is about 5 minutes south on the west side of the highway and has 3 good and inexpensive restaurants, La Palapa, Aricife and Leo’s Pizza, (the only place that will deliver.) There is also a small market and hardware store.

My favorite new thing is to visit the IK LAB which is a very cool art gallery inside the eco resort Azulik. It’s the brain child of Santiago Guggenheim, (yes, that Guggenheim) and defies description. Trust me, just go to the gallery and boutique at Azulik. Pricey, but cool to see the stream running through it.

Other Places to Explore:
Puerto Aventuras is a fun little place to explore. There are hotels, but it is more of a gated community. You can visit the shops and restaurants that ring the dolphinarium. You have to show your license with the security guards at the gate and tell them you are going to the restaurants. During season my boyfriend and I play at Cafe Ole’ on Saturday nights from 7-10pm.

Playa Del Carmen is fun for a day of shopping and strolling on the pedestrian street, 5th Avenue. There are all kinds of shops, restaurants and bars from touristy to high end. Going one block west on any side street you will find great little local restaurants and shops, much cheaper than on 5th ave. There are also 3 malls, a Walmart and a Home Depot in Playa del Carmen. You can catch the ferry to Cozumel here.

Of course the Mayan Ruins of Tulum are a must see. Go early and hire a guide. You will get so much more out of it. Also take a towel and swim suit because there is a cute little beach there too.
There are lots of nice beach clubs and shops down along the Beach Road. Turn left at the Coba Road and keep going right. I like the salsa dancing on Sunday nights at La Zebra from 7-9pm.
To go to the Ruins of Coba, take a right on the Coba Road, then about 45 minutes west from Tulum. They are a bit further but the only ruins that you can still climb on. I also recommend getting a guide and renting a bike while there.

There are many Cenotes up and down the highway. Dos Ojos is about 10 minutes south. It is great and they have several cenotes and a cute little museum that is very interesting. But it can be very crowded. My new favorite is a few more minutes south called Lab NaHa which is less crowded.

Of the big eco theme parks, I have been to Xel Ha, Xplor and Xcaret. They are a little pricey but a fun day with many different activities.
