أشياء أخرى يجب ملاحظتها
The interiors of The Levee’s Eclectic architecture-style building was restored by
preservation specialists Bar Orian Architects, and the interiors were designed and styled
by Yael Siso. Hailing from Belgium, Yael Siso is known for her upscale residential
interior design, incorporating European elegance and influence into her projects in
Israel and abroad.
Through Yael Siso’s signature finesse, she creates a home-away-from-home feeling to
ensure the uppermost comfort and ease for every guest. Loft-like interiors and industrial
elements run through each apartment, merging the buildings rich history with
contemporary, urban design.
The walls and ceilings have been stripped back, exposing the untreated cement and in
some places, pieces of seashells can be seen buried in the original 100-year-old concrete
which was made from sand sourced from the Tel Aviv shores.
With a natural and raw theme, Yael Siso chose warm, wooden flooring to accompany the
organic walls, illustrating texture and color in its authentic form. To balance this,
minimalist lighting was selected to contour the apartment lines, accentuating its
geometric shapes.
When it came down to division of space, Yael Siso prioritized creating a feeling of
amplitude and vastness. The apartments are distinguished by their traditional, high
ceilings - a characteristic predominantly found in the city’s first neighborhood.
Divided into eight unique units, each space has unique features, furnished with plush
pieces from international designers including Minotti, Molteni, Cassina, Moroso, Paola
Lenti, Baxter, Bonaldo, Moooi, Kristalia, Saba Italia, Linie Design and Nani Marquina.

الموقع

تل أبيب - يافا ومنطقة تل أبيب وإسرائيل

Situated on Yehuda Halevi street in Neve Tzedek, The Levee is nestled in Tel Aviv’s
oldest neighborhood. The street itself was named after Judah Halevi, a Spanish Jewish
physician, poet and philosopher who arrived in Israel in 1141, at the point of the
Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem. To this day, Halevi is considered one of the greatest,
Hebrew poets, with many of his poems still appearing in present-day liturgy. His most
famous work was the “Kuzari” which is regarded as one the most important apologetic
works of Jewish philosophy.
Neve Tzedek Neighborhood
Originally built in 1887, Neve Tzedek was the first Jewish neighborhood outside of the
old port city of Jaffa. Established over 20 years before Tel Aviv was built, Neve Tzedek
was created by a group of families seeking a more quieter life outside of busy and
bustling Jaffa.
The people who settled in the new, Neve Tzedek neighborhood built colorful, low
buildings along narrow streets, incorporating elements which were at the forefront of
contemporary design with heavy Bauhaus and Art Nouveau influences. The peaceful and
charming neighborhood later became home to many artists and writers including future
Nobel prize laureate Shmuel Yosef Agnon, and famous Hebrew artist Nahum Gutman.
As time went by, the city of Tel Aviv became more developed whilst Neve Tzedek fell
into decay, so much so that by the late 1960’s it was deemed to be slum-like and
incompatible with the more cultivated, north of Tel Aviv. City officials planned to
demolish the entire district, replacing it with high-rise apartment blocks. But luckily,
many of the existing buildings were placed on preservation lists just in time, spurring on
a new wave of renovation, restoring the dwellings to their original beauty and breathing
new life into the quaint neighborhood.
Undergoing quite the journey, Neve Tzedek has grown into a real cultural hotspot. An
oasis of tranquility in the bustling city full of small boutiques, cafes, and splendid
architecture.

Restaurants
Hotel Montefiore
Hotel Montefiore’s restaurant is a mandatory culinary experience for both travelers to
Tel Aviv and locals. The kitchen can best be described as French cuisine under a
Vietnamese spell, where all dishes are prepared solely with seasonal, local ingredients
and the imported goods are carefully curated by the hotel’s kitchen. Paired with an
expertly curated list of boutique and international wines and cocktails, guests at Hotel
Montefiore restaurant can sit back and relax in the luxurious leather cushioned seats
amidst mythical palms.
CoffeeBar
More than just a place to sit for a good cup of coffee, CoffeeBar's location on Yad
Harutziym street is literally a diamond in the rough and a destination in itself, where
patrons sit for innovative dishes like Fried Young Barracuda, Coriander Yogurt,
Tomatoes Salsa and Chicken Liver Pate, Marinated Pear, Sourdough Bruschetta, created
and produced by young stalwart Chef Ohad Salomon.
Cordero
From the seafood restaurants of France to the tapas bars of Spain and the trattorias of
Italy, Cordero aims to take diners on a journey through the gastronomically-rich regions
of Southern Europe. Cordero’s cuisine is inspired by the culinary techniques, flavors and
ingredients from the Mediterranean coasts, in sync with the fresh ingredients that Israel
has to offer: fantastic seafood, outstanding farm-to-table meats, organic fruits and
vegetables and superb dairy products.
Nomi
Nomi is the latest venture by acclaimed Israeli chef Yoram Nitzan, previously head chef
of the well-known Mul Yam and Bindella, which opened its doors at the beginning of the
year. Influenced by cooking techniques hailing from kitchens across the globe, nomi
brings an innovative take to fine kosher dining with Nitzan presenting dishes bursting
with the aromatic tastes and flavors indigenous of Israeli cuisine.
Herzl 16
Herzl 16 is an Eclectic architectural-style edifice that leads into an open internal
courtyard. It's now home to a music venue, bar, a cultural space, and two restaurants,
one a casual indoor-outdoor café and the second, Disco Tokyo, a reinterpreted Japanese
restaurant offering patrons exquisite cuisine in an informal atmosphere.
Things to do
The Tel Aviv Museum of Art
The Tel Aviv Museum of Art is one of Israel’s leading artistic and cultural institutions,
that houses a large collection of permanent artworks, as well as temporary exhibitions.
The museum focuses on modern and contemporary art, and also holds a big collection of
old masters, dating from the 16th century. The Tel Aviv Museum of Art’s award-winning
Herta and Paul Amir Building is a work of art in itself; supported by the museum’s
conjoining Main Building and satellite Helena Rubinstein Pavilion for Contemporary
Art.
Jaffa
Jaffa or Yafo, is located in the most southern part of Tel Aviv. With its unique, ancient
but vibrant atmosphere it is completely different than the rest of Tel Aviv. Wander
around Jaffa’s winding alleys, filled with art studios and galleries such as Magasin III,
restaurants, historical buildings, mosques and churches, Jaffa Flea Market and the
ancient Jaffa Port.
Milk & Honey
Israel’s first whisky distillery, The Milk & Honey Distillery is a hidden gem among the

Jaffa, right by the Bloomfield Soccer Stadium. Whisky-making is a special process that
involves all senses. Moreover, it requires craftsmanship that is soaked with history,
combining science, technology and handwork. Join in on a private tour and walk
through the various stages of spirit making – from grain to glass – and finish with a
guided tasting of their creations.

understand Gregory Abou’s unique vision of an art of life, whilst browsing the items for
sale, from bowls and candle holders to delicate glassware and lighting fixtures, ceramics
and tabletops.

The Levee is located at 16 Yehuda Halevi Street, Tel Aviv, in a building that was
originally called The Gurevitch House. Built in 1913 in the Eclectic architectural-style on
a plot in Tel Aviv’s area of Ahuzat Bait, the building is representative of the collection of
buildings that reflects the initial settlement of Tel Aviv. Originally, the building had two
floors and a tiled roof. The additional building includes a detached floor, a full floor and
a recessed floor. The building was marked for preservation in the Lev Ha’ir program in
the buffer zone of the White City declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2003.
As part of the transformation of The Gurevitch House into The Levee, Bar Orion
Architects restored the original building to its exact intention under strict guidelines of
the Tel Aviv organization of architectural preservation. Along with the meticulous
restoration of the original building, the architects also added two new additions while
preserving the original structure, including the steel-encased, top-floor penthouse,
which creates a unique contrast between Bauhaus and industrial, modern and classic.
Along with the top-floor addition, the architects also extended the rear of the building to
include additional square-meterage, gardens and outdoor spaces.
