A rare opportunity to fully enjoy pure nature and in the same time being quite close to tourist attractions of bigger cities, Munich, Passau, Regensburg, and Nuremberg.
Great place for out-doors activities such as hiking and skiing, according to the season. Mountain Bicking, Nordic Walking very popular, too. For Geocaching fans, there are plenty of geocaches in the area, of different sizes and difficulty levels.
Excellent and affordable restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Located in the Bavarian Forest (Bayerischer Wald) (URL HIDDEN) The Wiessentstein Castle Ruins and the memorial house and museum of Siegfried v. Vegesack a classic German writer in the close neighbourhood. My favourite restaurant, La Gondola located in Regen on the bank of the river is especially enjoyable during summer time. Lots of traditional Gaststatten and Biergarten, too.
