My apartment is located in a strategic position, just a step away from the railway station (1 hour from Milan), and from the boat harbor and ferries leading to all places of the lake!

The flat has two big bedrooms (the parental one permit also the adjoint of a third bed, if necessary), a livingroom, a kitchen and one bathroom.
From the windows you can see the lake and the rear mountains and enjoy the quiet and the beautifulness of the places.
It is located very close to the railway station and to the lakeside, where you can find the ferry and the boats for every place on the lake and Varenna's Lido. In a few minutes you can reach the center of the vilalge, with the ancient San Giorgio's church, restaurants and shops. Just near the house ther are other bars, restaurants and services.
You can reach Varenna by train in one hour from Milano Central Station.
You can join the house in a few steps from Varenna's railway station, following the direction Varenna and turning left at the bridge on the main road.
Arriving by car, it is possible to park in the covered parking place at the entrance of the village or in the parking places closest to the house, in Olivedo, following the local instructions.
You will receive all the informations about the use of the house at your arrival.
I ask guests to leave the sum of 35 euros in cash upon departure for the final cleaning of the apartment (in fact the price of my apartment does not include cleaning costs).
Furthermore, from March 1st to October 31st, according to the provisions of the Municipality of Varenna, guests must pay a supplement of 1.50 euros per day (in cash) as a tourist tax. The tax is not paid after 7 consecutive days of stay. Children up to the age of 6 years are exempt from paying.
This accommodation is rented for tourist purposes (pursuant to art.1 of law 392 of 9 December 1998 on the letting of urban properties, art.53 of Legislative Decree no.79/2011, article 1571 of the Civil Code and article 4 of the decree Law 50 of 2017 and related explanatory circulars of the Revenue Agencies) and is therefore not a "holiday home". During the presence of the tenant, they are not provided additional services such as, for example, change of bath and bed linen, cleaning, administration of foods and drinks. Any use of "accommodation" designation as part of this site is not attributable to the owner and is not authorized by the owner.

General information
At the railway station there is the travel agency I viaggi del Tivano where you can obtain any kind of information about day trip to Lugano, train timetable to Milano or other destination etc.
Bellano is a little bigger than Varenna town close to this. You can reach it easily by train.
In the central square of Varenna there are two grocery where you can find any type of food (meat and fruit and vegetable too).
In Varenna there is a post office and a pharmacy.

Di Varenna era, per il ramo materno, la famiglia di mio marito Francesco, che nel tempo ha sempre mantenuto un forte legame affettivo e di frequentazione con il luogo. Il paese, con le sue contrade scoscese che conducono alla riva del lago, le case in pietra, la piazzetta sulla quale si affacciano quattro chiese, la passerella sul lago, che permette di osservarne da vicino le acque, è fonte di innumerevoli suggestioni e di scorci di particolare bellezza. Il suo fascino è accresciuto da una posizione privilegiata: Varenna si affaccia sulla parte centrale del lago e gode di un panorama particolarmente aperto, che comprende anche il bellissimo promontorio di Bellagio, forse la località lariana maggiormente conosciuta. Alle spalle del paese si innalzano, improvvise, le montagne, che ne delimitano i confini, incastonandolo all’interno di una cornice di roccia e vegetazione rigogliosa. Io sono nata a Cagliari e vivo a Milano. Ho frequentato Varenna fin dai miei primi anni al “nord” e l’ho amata da subito. La nostra casa è semplice, ma confortevole e accogliente, e ha l’impronta dei nostri interessi e del nostro gusto. La frequentiamo appena possibile, con amici e parenti, anche se negli ultimi tempi le occasioni si stanno riducendo per via degli impegni lavorativi e sociali. La casa è silenziosa, nonostante si trovi in un condominio, ed è il rifugio che ci permette di riposare e trascorrere nel contempo piccole vacanze, scegliendo fra una gita con pic nic in montagna, una giornata di sole e bagni nel lago o, d’inverno, una puntata sui campi di sci di località come Madesimo o Saint-Moritz. Ma anche il paese offre possibilità di evasione, per il suo carattere pittoresco e per le tracce di una storia millenaria, che conserva nelle sue chiese, nelle sue contrade, negli splendidi giardini delle antiche ville aperte al pubblico (Villa Monastero e Villa Cipressi). Speriamo che i nostri ospiti ne godano con altrettanto piacere. A loro chiediamo di attenersi alle normali regole di rispetto per gli spazi comuni nel condominio, soprattutto nel non creare disturbo, e di avere per la casa la stessa cura che usano con i loro ambienti di vita.
