Ngarendare forest nature trails
This is an exhilarating fun filled- add exciting- forest adventure in World UNESCO Heritage site; Ngare Ndare. This experience is put together by facilitators who are not only experienced in providing exceptional guiding, but are knowledgeable of the landscape and natural terrain. This experience is a unique way to explore Ngare Ndare forest on foot, and from a 450m long Canopy walk meandering through the pristine tropical forest. Groups arrive at Ngare Ndare Conservancy, 45km N from Nanyuki for a 10:00am start. The walk begins at the platform where a forest ranger guides us through the forest on a motorable track, with chances for wildlife enroute. The 3.5km walk leads to a natural gorge with cool springs from underground water springs and highland precipitation. The blue pools are an attraction for swimmers and photographers, so get ready to get your feet wet! The gorge offers a series of scrambles at knee level and some pools for a dip before taking the track across the forest to the bottom of a waterfall. This and almost any other spot is often a good pick for lunch- and then back up the track and into the indigenous forest and back to the canopy walk. The experience winds down by afternoon but not without leaving guests with a strengthened connection to our natural resources, our history, and an aspect of personal challenge and development. That, and some good laughs.
