The hike lasts about 2:30-3 hours including time to stop to take pics & breaks. We'll be hiking a loop on some of the best trails in beautiful south Palm Springs. As we hike we'll have amazing views of the desert valley, all the way up to beautiful mountain peaks. Hopefully, we'll see some Peninsular Big Horn Sheep too. We'll stop & see the very unique Bob Hope house & once we reach the top of Smoke Tree Mountain (really a hill at 1,561 feet & the highest point we'll reach) we'll enjoy incredible 360-degree views of the entire surrounding area & perfect for breathtaking scenic photos. We'll see the windmills, the Little San Bernardino Mountains that go into the mountain perimeter of Joshua Tree National Park all to the north, the San Jacinto Mountains to the west, Mount San Gorgonio (the tallest mountain in Southern California at 11,501 ft.), Palm Springs and other desert cities. As we head back down we'll see Indian Canyons, ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians that settled in the area five thousand years ago. Any questions contact me, thanks! I also offer a shorter/easier hike from the one above that's about 2-2:30 hours long with less uphill gain & costs less. If you want to do the shorter one let me know & I will try to switch them if the one above has no bookings. To see it copy & paste--> https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/885156
I love being outdoors on the beautiful and rugged desert trails that surround Palm Springs & other desert communities. I'm an avid hiker/trail runner & have been hiking the trails around Palm Springs for over 5 years. I've been lucky enough to see Coyotes, Peninsular Big Horn Sheep, Desert Chipmunks, Desert Iguanas, Jack Rabbits & beautiful desert plants & flowers when I've been out hiking. There is always something new to see that I never noticed before, the desert is always changing & better when shared with others.
I'll provide 1 granola bar for each hiker, but if you have dietary restrictions/preferences you can bring a snack of your…

We'll be hiking in the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument on Native American land near Indian Canyons on some of the best trails in south Palm Springs. You'll be able to enjoy desert vegetation/plants & cacti as we hike & also the amazing views of the surrounding area from the desert valley floor all the way up to spectacular mountain peaks. The endangered Peninsular Big Horn Sheep are back for the winter, maybe we'll see some.
