We'll meet at WAQOO Shitaderamachi and start tracing at first! I prepare a short sutra to trace, just ten phrases (only 41 characters)! But if you're good at writing, you can change to a long one, Heart Sutra of 276 characters. It is said that each character of Sutras has the power to bless you, so it's important to write with all your heart. and also remember to write your wish at the end of the line.
After tracing, let's make the hand-copied paper with your heart into a personalized charm... if you want. Folding the paper and put it into a sack. Our sacks are so original, designed with five traditional Japanese patterns. Each pattern has its own meaning, for example, a turtle shell as longevity, a hemp plant as avoidance of bad luck and plum as safe birth-giving. You also can choose from three colors; HOKUSAI (Mt.Fuji blue), YAMABUKI (Japan rose) and MOMOTARO (Sakura pink). Each sack is an additional 880JP yen.
After this experience, please keep this amulet with you, and it will bring you luck!

I used to work as an employee of Henjouson-in temple on Mt. Koya for over 3 years and I have practiced hand-copying a sutra as Buddhist training there.
In 2017, I started to work as a guest experience staff at WAQOO Shitaderamachi which is a hotel located in a unique temple district in Osaka. Every day I guide our guests in Sutra copying activity.
I think that Sutra-writing is the easiest way to understand Buddhism, even if the person does not know the sutra ( if someone wants to know what it says, I will teach you of course). Please feel your mind calm down and relax!

This workshop is held at a tatami hall in a hotel "WAQOO Shitaderamachi". WAQOO Shitaderamachi is located in a unique temple district (Teramachi in Japanese) packed with more than 80 temples. The cityscape is quite different from the one in other areas of Osaka... For expample there are stone‐paved roads in places and historical temples.

A very meditative experience. Takes place in a beautiful and peaceful space, so you can fully focus on copying the sutra. I think it's better to do this if you have studied kanji before, but beginners can enjoy this too. Don't be afraid to ask for guidance if you need it!

This experience was amazing! Miwako was our host and I couldn't dream of a better host! She has an amazing english AND french, she takes the time to explain you everything in details, to answer all your questions. She is really kind and this experience was absolute pleasure! What a unique and wonderful experience! Had a wonderful time getting to know more about omamori and the background behind them and buddhism. As a japanese american I've owned many omamori but have never made my own. Was a very relaxing and unique experience, and I will treasure my handmade omamori!
