ماذا ستفعل

Wake up from your first night at your hotel in Luleå, enjoy a breakfast. Meet and greet with your guide and the group in the lobby and then travel together to Jokkmokk, a 2 hours drive crossing into the Arctic circle.

When we arrive Jokkmokk it's possible to rent winter clothing, let us know if you are interested!

Welcome dinner, then heading out for an evening watching for the Northern Lights.

Imagine yourself standing on a frozen lake with a mug of steaming hot lingonberry juice in your glove. The sky is full of zillions of stars and a spectacular Northern Lights is dancing above. That could be you this night! You will have a chance to see the Aurora each night actually.

Night at Jokkmokk guesthouse.
Other things to note
• A night at Hotel Savoy in Luleå before and after the tour is included.
• Winter clothing can be rented at 1800 SEK for the entire trip
• Single room supplement 995 SEK. Be prepared that you may still have to share tent with one or two other persons.

Day 2
On this day we are planning to drive through a nearby valley which is known to host some of Europe's largest moose, but also big amounts of reindeer. This provides a great opportunity to view and photograph these majestic animals with the snowy landscape as a backdrop.

We stop for an outdoor lunch somewhere along the shore of lake Saggat.

In the afternoon we will meet up with our good friend Anna just outside Jokkmokk. Anna and her family are Sámi and reindeer herders. She has invited us for an evening meal in her lávvu (traditional tent). With a native perspective Anna has a lot to tell us. In this way we get the chance to learn more about the Sami culture and the life as a reindeer herder at first hand. We sit on skins on the floor and try some traditional Sami dishes that are prepared over the camp fire.

This will be a long day, but there is always a chance to go out and watch for Northern lights. Fill up your thermos and bring some snacks to stay warm and happy.

Night at Jokkmokk guesthouse.

Day 3
On this day we are going dog sledding with our good friends Matti and Stina. They live in a small cabin by a lake with more than 50 huskies in their snowy garden. We greet with the dogs and all help out to prepare a bit before we are ready to take off.

Seated on wooden sledges we travel across the frozen landscape hearing only the breathing of the huskies. We stop somewhere for "Swedish fika" and light a warming camp fire while the dogs get some well deserved rest and cool down in the snow. This sled trip takes about three hours including the break.

Lunch at Jokkmokk Guesthouse.

Free time in the afternoon to explore Jokkmokk.

Northern Lights watching in the late evening if the skies are clear.

Night at Jokkmokk guesthouse.

Day 4
We leave Jokkmokk behind and travel further North to visit our good friend Lennart. Lennart is Sami and we are very happy that he lets us stay at his place!

We enjoy a traditional dinner by the fire place in a small wooden cabin. We take turns to go outside and watch for the Northern lights that will hopefully be dancing in the sky above the camp. In either case, the illuminated tents will provide an ideal foreground for night sky photography.

You will then sleep comfortably in one of the tents. The tents have proper beds and a heater, so it will be almost like staying at a hotel. You will be surprised how comfortable a tent can be. Toilet? Don't worry, Lennart has set up some heated toilet booths near the tents. All in all we will have five tents to share so there will be plenty of room for all of us.

Day 5
Wake up in your tent and enjoy a late breakfast in the warm cabin.

On this day you will have the chance to explore the surrounding forests and the frozen lake on wooden cross country skis or snowshoes, as you prefer. Find animal tracks and experience different types of snow. You will also have the chance to try ice fishing. You just drill a hole in the ice.

These activities are optional. You can also walk on foot, or just hang out at the camp. You don't have to go anywhere, but if you choose to go for an excursion there will be a lot to see and amazing landscapes to photograph.

Lunch and dinner at the camp.

Day 6
We enjoy another slow breakfast in the cabin before we say our good bye's to Lennart and begin our journey back to modern civilisation.

We will stop for a last lunch together on the way and also hand back the winter clothing that are possible to rent.

Enjoy your last night at Hotel Savoy in Luleå, Lapland!

Born and raised in Blueberryland by a campfire among moose and pine cones. I am a soft-adventure-nature-lover. I share my days with my two little blonde fairies. We love to walk on skis, to canoe across silent lakes and to climb trees. We're heating up in saunas and cooling down in Lapland.

I founded my travel company WildSweden in 2003 and it is the only job I've have ever had. I have a handful of amazing guides but I still love to lead tours.

Awards: "Swedish Ecotourism company of the year", "Tourism company of the year in Sweden" and one of our tours was mentioned as one of 50 Tours of a Lifetime by National Geographic Traveler magazine.

If you get the opportunity to book a tour with Wild Sweden do it!!! Our guide was Christian and he was fantastic. Friendly, organised, knowledgeable, local to the area, caring and made everyone feel like they were visiting with an old friend. Such a fabulous trip to an incredibly beautiful part of Sweden. Perfect balance of active adventure, relax time, genuine cultural immersion and the food was all included and superb! I can not say enough to express how much I enjoyed my week in Sapmi. We were blessed with incredible weather, Northern Lights that were sensational, beautiful Sami people, lavvu teepee camping, wildlife, dogs, reindeer, snow, snow and more snow, wintery wonderland forests that were absolutely breathtaking. I have to stop but I could go on and on. Unforgettable !!!!!!!!!!!

it seemed like a whack of money when I booked but there were experiences that I would never have been able to have had it not been for local knowledge. I have many wonderful experiences in my life and I know this one will be tough to top. Maybe one day I will do it again.

A magical time. Super-professional and super-helpful guide through a most extraordinary landscape, both physical and social. We were well looked after (lovely meals, safe and comfortable transport, great humour); and the itinerary balanced activities (dog sledding, cross-country skiing, meeting reindeer, even birdwatching in the snow in an ancient forest) with leisure time to snooze, read, visit the Sámi museum and crafts display - basically, a perfect, perfect time. I have never gone on a guided tour before, but based on this, I’ll do so again. And the Northern Lights obliged, and came out most nights!

My husband and I travel quite often all over the world and I have to say our experience with Wild Sweden went way beyond our expectations. Christian our guide was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable and made sure not to go beyond our physical limitations. All the experiences on the tour were well done and magical from the view at Pite falls, to watching for the northern lights while sitting outside by a fire on a lake, to the dogsled ride, to the dinner and singing in a traditional Sämi tipi and our stay at Sampi Nature. All the hosts at these events were extremely likable and very passionate about what they do with no sense of artifice. If you are looking for a genuine heartfelt experience with beautiful views of nature and animals this is the adventure for you!

As a frequent traveler it’s rare that I would recommend an organized tour. However, this was honestly one of the most magical trips I’ve taken. Every experience was better than the next. Friends told me my photos looked fake the scenery was so beautiful. Each person we were introduced to had amazing stories and passion for Sapmi (Lapland). If you are hesitating ... don’t, just do it. You won’t regret it!

I'm glad I made it!!.. to join the adventure ''glamp under the northern lights'', at first I thought it will be difficult for me to cope with..especially the arctic climate as I'm from Asia. But Marcus and his team are professionals. Instructions and information Marcus provided before the trip took place are sufficient. During the trip, our guide has done a good job taken care of us. Events and itinerary are well planned. Local people we have encountered: Matti, Scina, Anna, Lennart, Kaisa, Kurt, are all enthusiastic and sincere. I do feel the land, the culture, the life..through these people, through the local delicacies, the nature scenery of Lapland is breath taken. The experience is authentic, I'll defiantly come back!
