Susan and Nathan are passionate about things- people and place. We run a multi-award winning family run business, delivering a range of guided sea kayaking tours on the East Coast of Tasmania. Since we establishedour products in 1996, we have been continually developing and delivering our experiences with three key things in mind – passion, people and place. Based in Coles Bay, our tours range from half day tours, to a two day expedition experience. All our tours take guests into the heart of Freycinet National park and aim to enable people to step out of the everyday and experience natural adventure in Tasmania’s spectacular coastal environment. We have lived all over the world but think our patch of Tasmania is one of the best. We look forward to showing you around our backyard.

We take you into the heart of Freycinet National Park. We will paddle accross Great Oyster Bay into the park and along the coastline. We will stop at Honeymon Bay for a well earned coffee and tea break. Continue on past Freycinet Lodge, Richardsons Beach and back to Muirs Beach.
Because we take the time to share little known facts about Freycinet, we are stopping every couple of hundred metres or so to point our highlights.

I had never been in a kayak before but the experience was very well organised and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3 hours out on the water around Coles BY.

Beautiful activity to do around the bays in Freycinet. Loved it. Felt safe, dryer than I thought and our guides Matt B and Amber were fabulous

If you visit Coles Bay & Freycinet, you MUST do this. 10 mins out and we saw a beautiful, big seal snacking on squid. A few minutes later, a white bellied Sea Eagle gracefully glided above us. Even with a little bit of wind and swell, the paddle was safe and so worthwhile with plenty of calm water breaks in between. This place is so stunning on land but it’s even better out on the water. We felt expertly guided and would recommend to anyone. Thanks guys!

we encountered an unexpected situation where the weather turned extreme and the emergent assistance provided by the host appeared to be insufficient and late. It started raining and became very windy. One of the boat where two of my friends seated flipped over in the middle of the sea. The rest of the team had been long way from us and couldn’t see us. While the tour guide on the back who led us throughout the entire trip did provide a certain level of help immediately, she failed to flip the boat back and two of my friends kept being trapped in the sea. It was freezing in the sea, raining and windy. Their body lost temperature in a fast speed. Me and my friend in our boat drove pass them and couldn’t provide any help as there are only two seats. We even struggled surviving in the middle of the sea where it was so windy, raining and freezing. Then we drove our canoe towards the beach and tried asking for help. It was a long distance (at that situation). After me and my friends got rescued, we were told that rescue team had departed and didn’t need to worry about them. I felt extraordinary freezing, shocked, and my body shaking when I arrived at the beach. It took me 10mins to recover. Soon my other two mates got rescued but both of them were in a very bad condition. Their body were shaking strongly, couldn’t speak fluently and a bit unconscious. I can clearly tell from their eyes and face that how desperate they felt in the middle of the sea where it was freezing, windy and raining. Then the host led lots of people come and warm us in the car. Gave us hot drinks and snakes. Said many good words to us which did help us a bit. Later on the two friends told me that when they were trapped in the middle of the sea, they were told by the tour guide that they would float to the beach by the wave. This is insane as at that situation, a reasonable person would expect a certain level of rescue (I.e. a rescue boat). But they were told they would be floated to the beach by the wave where they were very far from the beach. How ridiculous it is! It was freezing in the sea, windy and raining. Will one survive by floating to the beach in the middle of the sea? He will certainly die before reaching the beach. Also, later on we realized that it was not the boat from the host that saved us. It is a boat from local people who saved us. As an elder woman saw us from her house and she immediately asked local people for help. I was extremely shocked after listening to this. What if no one saw us? Will we be dead? I strongly doubted if the tour guide was equipped any mean to contact with people in the beach to help us. In conclusion, the unexpected weather condition did play an important part of it. However, the host should also have a helpful emergent plan when emergency happens. Especially kayaking in a bay is easily to be impacted by bad weather. Nobody wants to risk his/her life. Me and my friends couldn’t calm down entirely after this and still feel shock sometimes. They didn’t tell their parent and friends about this scary experience cause they don’t want them to be worried. My friends got injury with her arms which is full of wounds. This is very mental and full on. This kayaking experience from Airbnb is disappointing and scary.

Ned and Matt were such great guides/hosts. Such a beautiful part of the world. We were lucky enough to see dolphins and have great weather for the day. Most definitely recommend to enjoy the beautiful bay.

Generally, my husband and I enjoyed the activity as it was the first time we did kayaking together. They provided cookies and hot drinks during our break time, which was a pleasant treat for us.
